Baseball Swept by Eastern Mennonite in Season Finale
HARRISONBURG, Va. --- Roanoke was swept by Eastern Mennonite, 9-2, 8-7 (7 innings) in an ODAC doubleheader in the regular season finale. The Maroons end the spring with a 12-23 overall record, 3-15 in the ODAC.
 
Jacob Clifton (Vinton, VA, William Byrd) led Roanoke, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, but the Royals produced 17 hits in a 9-2 victory. Up 3-1 in the fifth, EMU put the game away with a four-run outburst.
 
Tyler Grouten (Avon, CT, Avon) allowed 14 hits and seven runs in 4.2 innings. He did, however, strikeout seven in his final start of the year. John Terlesky (Charlottesville, VA , Albermarle) pitched the remaining 3.1 innings in his final appearance of his career.   He had four strikeouts while allowing two runs and three hits.
 
Robbie Scott (Mt. Kisco, NY, Fox Lane) led the Maroons in the twin bill, going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Scott Thurston (Glen Allen, VA, J.R. Tucker) went 2-for-2 while Jacob McMillan (Vinton, VA, William Byrd) was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
 
Michael Haslam (Collegeville, PA, Springfield) went 6.2 innings and struck out six as the Royals scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win. The game was called due to darkness with two outs and two runners left on base.
