Eli Sumpter Named ODAC Pitcher of the Week

Forest, Va. – Roanoke College right-hander Eli Sumpter has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week as the league announced its weekly awards on Monday.

Sumpter, a junior from Charlottesville, Va., went the distance against Emory & Henry, helping the Maroons to an 8-2 victory over the Wasps. In nine full frames, Sumpter gave up two runs with one earned. He scattered six hits and did not walk a batter while striking out four. For the season, Sumpter is 2-0 with a 1.50 earned run average. He has given up just 10 hits and fanned nine with one walk in 18.0 innings on the hill. Opponents are hitting .161 against him.

Roanoke will be back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Averett in non-conference action at 7:00 p.m.
