The Lead: Roanoke scored six runs in the third inning en route to a 9-1 win over Rutgers-Newark in the second game of the season-opener.
How it Happened:
- Robbie Edwards led the way going 2-for-4 with five RBIs while Dean Hermanson went 2-for-4 driving in two runs.
- Matt Henderlite (1-0) earned the win after 4.0 innings of work, allowing only four hits. Mike Zibrin moved to 0-1 after giving up six runs on seven hits in six innings.
- The Scarlet Raiders scored their only run in the top of the first as Connor Clare hit a double, plating Ryan Zucker.
- Roanoke responded with six runs in the third, highlighted by a double by Edwards and a single from Hermanson.
- After three scoreless innings, the Maroons tacked on three more runs in the seventh as Edwards hit another double scoring Sean Guida and Sam Watson. Hermanson drove in the final run with a groundout that pushed across Jack Howard.
- Kenny Mackovic retired the side in the top of the ninth, starting the inning with back-to-back strikeouts to close the game.

The Lead: Rutgers-Newark scored three runs in the top of the ninth to earn an 8-6 win over Roanoke in the first game of the doubleheader.
How it Happened:
- The Scarlet Raiders jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning following a two-run homer from Adam Tricarico and an RBI single from Brian Boulineau.
- With the score 4-0 in the bottom of the second, Will Merriken reached on an error to start the inning before Howard hit a two-out single. Gavin Kandrick and Cody Shell hit back-to-back doubles to make it 4-3. Sam Watson tied it up with an RBI single to round out the inning and make it a 4-4 game.
- Rutgers-Newark took a one-run lead in the fourth after a lead-off walk scored off a single from Ryan Zucker.
- Guida led off the eighth inning with a triple before Merriken lifted a sacrifice fly to even the game at 5-5.
- In the top of the ninth, Rutgers-Newark scored three runs off two hits and two Roanoke errors to take the final lead. In the bottom of the inning, Roanoke scored one run off an RBI single from Guida to close the gap to 8-6 but was unable to complete the comeback.
- Shell had a team-high two RBIs while Watson, Guida, and Howard all had three hits for the Maroons. Rutgers-Newark was led by Tricarico with two RBI going 4-for-5.
- Sal Trancucci (0-1) was tabbed with the loss allowing three runs off two hits. Matthew Franklin pitched four innings allowing only two hits.
- Yanni Vaya (1-0) earned the win allowing one run off two hits in the final inning.
