The Lead: Will Smith hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to lift Roanoke to a 4-3 win and a series sweep over Muhlenberg.
How it Happened:
- After the first two batters were retired in the ninth, Will Salva singled to keep the inning alive and Gavin Kandrick walked to put Salva in scoring position and bring Smith to the plate.
- Muhlenberg broke open the scoring with a pair of singles from Jack Avallone and Troy Vazquez to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
- Roanoke evened the game one inning later with back-to-back walks from Will Merriken and Jack Howard. Salva then drove in Merriken with a single to make it 1-1.
- Sam Watson led off the bottom of the sixth with a single then stole second before a groundout from Eli Sumpter moved him to third. Sean Guida then drove in Watson with a single and Scott Ellis followed suit with a single in the next at-bat to move Guida to third. The Maroons then used a double steal to take a 3-1 lead as the Mules attempted to cut down Ellis at second base, allowing Guida to score.
- The Mules scored one run in both the seventh and eighth innings, highlighted by a double from Sam Arnold and a single from Brenden Weiss in the seventh and doubles from Michael Struck and Matt Riebesell in the eighth to tie the game. Muhlenberg had the bases loaded with one out in the eighth inning after tying the game, but the Maroons were able to get a double play to get out of the inning.
- Nick Raulin kept Muhlenberg off the bases with a strikeout and two groundouts in the top of the ninth.
- Raulin earned the win to move to 2-0 on the season while Truman Devitt (0-1) was tabbed with the loss giving up three runs off seven hits.
- Salva led the way going 2-for-4 with two RBI while seven other Maroons tallied a hit on the day.
