The Lead: (R/V) Piedmont topped Roanoke Baseball 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Christopher Newport University.
How it Happened
- Roanoke got its lone run of the day when Cale Agee doubled with two-outs in the first inning and scored when Will Merriken reached on a throwing error.
- Piedmont took the lead for good in the third inning when Kyle DeJesus delivered a one-out RBI single that scored a pair of runs.
- A Harrison Trawick two-out RBI double in the fourth inning scored Wes Snyder to make it a 3-1 game.
- Duke Wodetzki struck with a two-out RBI in the fifth inning to extended the Lions lead to 4-1.
- Nate Rotenberger picked up the win for Piedmont after going five innings and only giving up three hits and one run. Will Janofsky went the final two innings to earn the save.
- Alex Markus (0-1) took the loss for RC after giving up two runs in the third inning.
- Agee and Troy Ferrell each had two hits for the Maroons.
