How it Happened:

  • Roanoke got the only run it would need in the second inning when Carter Plunkett led off, reached on error and moved to third on a Will Salva double. Sam Watson plated Plunkett with a sacrifice fly to put RC up 1-0.
  • In the Roanoke third inning, Carson McCusker singled to open the inning before moving to second base on a wild pitch. Following a Mason Staz walk, Gavin Kandrick hit a ball to left that was misplayed and allowed McCusker to come around to score and double the RC to 2-0.
  • Roanoke made it a 3-0 game in the fifth inning when it loaded the bases with one out and Salva drew a walk to bring home McCusker.
  • Conner Butler opened the sixth inning with a double and then went to third when PK Cocolis singled. Tyler De Meo singled to drive in Butler and extended the RC lead to 4-0.
  • Aiden Kuhle started on the mound and went the first three innings while striking out four. Alex Markus followed and threw one inning, struck out two and worked out of a bases loaded jam. Chris Dudley would go the next four innings and struck out nine batters, earning the win to improve to 2-0 on the season. Fletcher closed the game out in the ninth striking out two.
  • Dominic Colosimo (0-1) went the first four innings and gave up three runs and three hits for GC.
