The Roanoke College Men's Lacrosse Team is ranked sixth in this week's USILA Div. III National Poll announced Monday afternoon. The Maroons, who are 14-2 on the season, moved up one spot in the weekly survey.
Stevenson (16-1) holds down the #1 spot in the poll for the first time in program-history after knocking off previously unbeaten and #1 Salisbury, 10-6 in the Capital Athletic Conference Championship last weekend. The Sea Gulls (17-1), ranked third in this week's poll, were the 15-time defending conference champions.
Gettysburg (14-1) stayed at No. 2, while Cortland (11-2) and Dickinson (14-1) reside at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. After a week off after clinching its 17th ODAC Regular Season Championship with a 7-0 mark, Roanoke moved into the #6 spot. The Maroons finished the regular season with 14 wins, the second-most in program-history behind the 2009 team with 16.
After dropping its first game of the season to Colby College (9-5), which received votes in the rankings, Connecticut College (13-1) dropped two spots from sixth to eighth in the national rankings. Tufts moved into seventh while Geneseo (9-2) remained 9th.
Four ODAC Schools remained in the Week 9 USILA Poll. Lynchburg (12-4) knocked off #18 Washington & Lee (10-5) to crack the top-10 this week. Hampden-Sydney (12-4) is ranked 19th in the poll, up one from last week. Cabrini (11-3), which Roanoke defeated, 21-7 earlier this season, moved into a tie for 11th in the weekly rankings.
The men will receive a first round bye in the 2010 ODAC Tournament which begins this Wednesday, April 28. The Maroons will host the winner of the Washington & Lee/Randolph-Macon quarterfinal match-up on Sunday, May 2.
