The Lead: No. 20 York scored five answered goals to start the second-half and got 12 saves from Caleb Abney en route to a 12-6 win over No. 10 Roanoke on Wednesday.
How it Happened:
- The score was deadlocked a 1-1 after the first quarter following a goal from York's Joe Lomady and an IV Stucker strike from Kevin Jackson for RC.
- Stucker opened the second quarter scoring just three minutes in when he took a pass from Joey Dishaw and scored to make it 2-1 Maroons.
- York got back-to-back goals in a 40 second span to take a 3-2 lead before Stucker struck with 5:20 to go in the half to tie the game at 3-3.
- An unassisted goal by Tyler McWilliams 1:28 later put RC out in front 4-3, but Nick Magnusson scored with 12 seconds to go sending the teams to the break with the game tied at 4-4.
- York scored five times in the decisive third quarter before Dishaw scored with 37 seconds remaining to make it 9-5.
- Roanoke outshot York 41-36 and each team had 24 groundballs. Roanoke was 11-of-21 on faceoffs and converted 13-of-16 clear attempts. The RC defense held York to 1-for-6 in man-up chances.
- Stucker led RC with three goals, while Dishaw and McWilliams each had a goal and an assist. Ian Davies and Burke McManus split time in net, making six and two saves, respectively.
- York's Andrew Gamble scored two goals and added two assists for a game-high four points. Abney got help in net from James Anderson who made three stops as well, giving the duo a combined 15 for the game.
