Roanoke Soccer Ranks 8th in South Region

Salem, VA --- The Roanoke College men's soccer team is ranked eighth in the NSCAA Division III south region poll. The men defeated previously ranked #18 Salisbury on Saturday in a 1-0 decision. The victory boosted the Maroons to a 6-3-1 overall mark and earned the men a place in the standings.

The team is lead by senior Shaman Douglass who has tallied five goals, three assists, 17 points and one game winner on the season. Michael Rouhana and Michael Walter have also made an impact for the Maroons with six points apiece. They scored three and two game winners respectively. Walter has scored three goals and posted 13 points. Rouhana is ranked 10th in the ODAC in shots (27) and shots per game (2.70).
Goalie Adam Thompson's effort has furthered the success of the men's soccer program. He ranks second in the ODAC in goals against average (.60), fourth in save percentage (.786), and first in shutouts (4).
The men will host ODAC rival Emory & Henry Tuesday, Oct. 7. The Maroons hold a 14-1 advantage and have 12 consecutive wins vs. the Wasps. Emory & Henry is 4-6-1 overall and 0-4 in the ODAC. Game time is schedule for 7:00 p.m.
