Roanoke drops 1-0 decision to Christopher Newport

Salem, Va. --- Roanoke College dropped a 1-0 decision to in-state rival Christopher Newport at Kerr Stadium this evening. The loss dropped the Maroons to 4-2-1 on the year while the Captains improved to 6-2-1.
The Captains broke a scoreless tie just three minutes into the second half as Tyler Clare beat his defender and scored with a far post shot to give them a 1-0 lead and the win. The Maroons are now 3-7-1 all-time against the Captains.
The Maroons were outshot, 13-5 but had a 6-4 advantage on corner kicks. Adam Thompson had three saves for Roanoke while Matt Tengs finished with four saves for CNU.
The Maroons will host Washington & Lee this Saturday, Sept. 27 as they celebrate senior day during Parents Weekend on campus. The men are 18-11-1 against the Generals. Game time is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
