Maroons defeat Emory & Henry, 3-0 in Men's Soccer

Salem, Va. --- Jordan Troyer scored a goal and added an assist to lead Roanoke to a 3-0 win over Emory & Henry at Kerr Stadium this evening. The Maroons improved to 7-3-1, 3-1 in the ODAC while the Wasps dropped to 4-7-1, 0-5 in the conference.
With the win, the Maroons are now 15-1 all-time vs. the Wasps, including their 13th in a row over their in-state rival.
Troyer scored the quickest goal in school-history off a cross from Shaman Douglass and found the left side to give the Maroons a 1-0 lead. The goal was four-seconds faster than Douglass' goal from last season, which was the old mark against ODAC-rival Virginia Wesleyan.
The Maroons got on the board again in the middle of the second-half as Troyer found Taylor Johnston as he connected on a powerful shot just outside the 18' to give them a 2-0 advantage.
Kayvon Sarmadi scored his second goal of the season off an assist from Michael Walter to give the Maroons their last goal of match to give the Maroons their third ODAC win of the season.
Roanoke outshot the Wasps, 21-4 along with a 14-4 advantage on corner kicks. Daniel Mills had eight saves for Emory & Henry while Adam Thompson secured his fifth shutout of the season with three saves for the Maroons.
The Maroons will return to action this Saturday as they travel to Harrisonburg to take on ODAC-foe Eastern Mennonite. The Maroons are currently 27-8-4 in the series. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
