Maroons fall to RMC 2-1

Salem, VA --- The Roanoke College men's soccer team fell to Randolph-Macon tonight in a 2-1 decision at Donald J. Kerr Stadium. The Maroons fell to 5-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the ODAC while the Yellow Jackets improved to 3-7-1 and 2-1.

Roanoke scored early off of a dangerous pass from senior Shaman Douglass to Michael Rouhana in front of the goal. The ball was last touched by a Yellow Jacket defender. With a 1-0 lead, the Maroons held Randolph-Macon to only one shot halfway through the period until Tyler Cornelio shot and scored. Scott Landolt became an offensive threat and scored with less than 15 minutes left in the half to give the Yellow Jackets a winning 2-1 lead.
The Maroons outshot the Yellow Jackets 19-5 and had five shots on goal in the defeat. The men also had a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Adam Thompson posted two saves in the contest.
Roanoke will travel to Salisbury University on Saturday Oct. 4th for a non-conference match. The Maroons are 3-6 against the Sea Gulls. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
