BRIDGEWATER - Men's soccer Head Coach Scott Allison, Chris Conover and Patrick Bain earned 2012 VaSID All-State College Division honors, announced Wednesday. Allison was named 2012 Coach of the Year, while Conover and Bain earned First and Second Team All-State, respectively.

Allison, who announced his retirement from coaching just prior to postseason play, led the Maroons to the ODAC Championship with a 13-5-1 overall record. Roanoke lost in the opening round of NCAA play to Emory University. The ODAC title was Roanoke's ninth during Allison's 27 years as the team's head coach. The VaSID Coach of the Year honor was the fifth for Allison. He also received the award in 1993, 2001, 2002 and 2004.

Chris Conover, a senior for Dagsboro, DE, was named VaSID All-State first team for his defensive play in 2012. He scored three goals against Washington & Lee to help clinch the top spot in the ODAC. Conover also made a goal line save during the Virginia Wesleyan contest, where the Maroons won 1-0 to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Conover finishes his collegiate career at Roanoke with five goals and seven assists. This is not his only accolade in 2012 as Conover was named NSCAA Third Team All-American, as well as All-ODAC First Team defender for the second year in a row. He was also named to the NSCAA All-South Region second team in 2011.

Patrick Bain, a junior from New Market, VA, was named VaSID All-State second team for his offensive efforts in the 2012 campaign. Bain finished the season with nine points off of three goals and three assists, and two of the three goals were game winners. One of his game winning goals came early in the ODAC Semifinals against Randolph, sending the Maroons to the ODAC Championship game. Bain, not a stranger to post-season accolades, was named Second Team All-South Atlantic Region and a First Team All-ODAC selection in 2011.
