Men's Soccer Alumni Day Enjoys Successful Turnout
The Maroon Club and men's soccer head coach Ryan Pflugrad hosted "Men's Soccer Alumni Day" at Kerr Stadium on Saturday Oct. 12. Over 30 men's soccer alums returned for the weekend with 24 taking part in the alumni game on Saturday.

"It was really exciting to see my old teammates in addition to many other men's soccer alumni back on campus this weekend," men's soccer head coach Ryan Pflugrad '02 said. "The game on Saturday was a lot of fun and it was great to have them in the stands cheering us on against nationally-ranked Randolph. This is an event we are looking to grow in the future and I think this weekend was a terrific starting point."

The men's soccer alumni met at Kerr Stadium on Saturday afternoon and played a 60-minute game with the current men's and women's soccer team, their parents and the parents of the alumni participating in attendance in the stands cheering on the former players.  The game ended with the grey team defeated the maroon squad, 4-2 in the first alumni vs. alumni game.  The international starting lineups were in place with player graphics on the new video board during the game.

Ryan Russell '14 led the grey squad with two goals, followed by Kayvon Sarmadi '10 with an addition goal in the win.  Bryan Galaska '04 and Ted Delledera '86 led the Maroon squad with a goal apiece.  Adam Thompson '09 earned the win in goal for the grey team as Chris Lovatt '06 was the goalkeeper for the Maroon team.

The alumni also took part in a tailgate that evening before the men's soccer contest at 7 PM vs. the WildCats.  At the tailgate, Asst. AD for External Relations Brad Moore spoke to the alumni about the tradition of the program, importance of staying connected to the program, building this event and bring more alumni back.  The Maroon Club also gave out 12 door prizes with soccer apparel.

"It was great to be able to come back and play with fellow men's soccer alumni," Shaman Douglass '09 said. "We all had a good time and it has been fun spending time with everyone and playing with the alumni again."
