The Roanoke College men's soccer team is ranked 24th in the latest D3soccer.com poll, announced Tuesday, September 10th.
The Maroons are off to a hot 4-0 start under new head coach Ryan Pflugrad. Roanoke defeated Averett University (1-0) and Richard Stockton (2-1) during the Roanoke Invitational on August 30-31. The Maroons went on to defeat Marymount (2-0) and John Carroll (3-2 2OT) in the Shellenberger Classic at Lynchburg College on September 7-8. Tyler Carbaugh, Robby Lentine, Carl Leist, Dionys Beck and Marc Dinkel were all named to the Shellenberger Classic All-Tournament Team, including Dinkel earning the Tournament MVP nod.
Lentine leads the Maroons in scoring with three goals, including two game-winners in the Shellenberger Classic. He also has a team high six points. Tyler Carbaugh currently has two goals and one assist for five points, while Marc Dinkel has one goal and two assists for four points. The Roanoke goalkeeping staff has a 0.71 goals against average in four games, tallied 16 saves, and posted two shutouts.
The Maroons were not the only Old Dominion Athletic Conference team to receive votes in the poll, as Randolph tallied 33 points. Roanoke opens up ODAC play on Saturday, September 14th as they take on Randolph-Macon College (2-2) in Ashland. That contest is scheduled for a 12:00 PM start.
