#17 Roanoke Falls to Christopher Newport 2-0 on Saturday
SALEM – The #17 ranked Roanoke College men's soccer team fell in non-conference action to Christopher Newport University, 2-0 on Saturday night. The Maroons now have a record of 5-1, while the Captains sit with a mark of 3-3-1.

Roanoke had started the 2013 season out on a 5-0 win streak, a feat they had not accomplished since the 2010 season. The Maroons had also picked up two national rankings, #17 in the D3Soccer.com poll, and #18 in the NSCAA Coaches poll.

The Captains put a goal up on the board early as Sean Christein headed a corner kick from Caleb Lewis into the back of the net, taking a 1-0 lead. The Captains scored once more in the second half, as Tommy O'Neal snuck a quick ground ball past the Roanoke defense and goal keeper to give CNU a 2-0 lead. That advantage would hold as the final score, with Christopher Newport winning 2-0 over Roanoke.

The Maroons finished the contest with seven shots, with Mark Dinkel taking three. Tyler Carbaugh, Robby Lentine Brian White, and Dionys Beck each took one shot apiece. Cole Sinclair played all 90 minutes in the goal and tallied six saves.

Christopher Newport outshot Roanoke 21-8 , while also holding a 6-3 advantage on corner kicks.

Roanoke returns to action on Wednesday, September 25th as they travel to Emory, VA to take on Emory & Henry in ODAC action. That contest is scheduled for a 7:30 PM start.
