Men's Soccer Scores Three In Win On Senior Night
SALEM – The Roanoke College men's soccer team was victorious on Senior Night over Eastern Mennonite, 3-0 on Friday evening. Roanoke now has a record of 7-1; 3-0 in ODAC play, while the Royals now have a mark of 2-7; 0-3 in ODAC play.

Roanoke celebrated the Senior night of eight players: Carl Leist, Mark Strelow, Ned Feldmann, Brian White, Johnny Hughes, Patrick Bain, Robin Hernandez and Will Dooley. Over the past four years, these eight seniors have amassed a record of 45-15-5, along with a 25-5-4 ODAC mark.

Both teams battled back and forth in the first half, with neither team being able to find the back of the net. It wasn't until the 61 minute mark that the Maroons put the first goal on the board. Jackson Goyette heeled the ball past the keeper off of a pass from Tyler Carbaugh to give the Maroons a 1-0 lead. Just four minutes later, Marc Dinkel bent the ball into the upper left 90 for Roanoke's second goal off of a free kick.

The Maroons would score once more in the second half as Brian White rebounded a shot off of the hand of the keeper and tucked it away in the left side of the goal for the Maroons' third tally. That would be the final goal of the game as Roanoke stays undefeated in ODAC play with a 3-0 win.

The Maroons outshot the Royals 13-6, with Tyler Carbaugh leading the team with three shots. He was followed by Mark Strelow, Jackson Goyette and Marc Dinkle with two shots each. Cole Sinclair and Will Dooley split halves in the goal on the evening, tallying four saves as a team.

The Maroons return to action on Wednesday, October 2nd as the they take on Shenandoah University. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
