The Maroons are off to their best start since the 2001 season, where Roanoke started the season 10-1. Roanoke holds a 13-3 all-time advantage on the pitch over Shenandoah, winning the last four meetings between the two teams.
Roanoke scored just one goal in the first half of the game. Marc Dinkel found the back of the net off of a pass from Garrett Eldridge, giving Roanoke a 1-0 lead at the 34:52 mark.
In the second half, the Maroons started to roll. At the 62 minute mark, Robby Lentine scored a goal off a pass from ODAC Player of the Week Brian White. Just three minutes later, Tyler Carbaugh scored Roanoke's third goal of the night with an assist from Dinkel. Roanoke would find the scoreboard once more with just nine minutes to play as Nicholas Staufenberger scored an unassisted goal. That would be the final goal of the night as Roanoke walks away with the 4-0 victory.
Roanoke outshot Shenandoah 33-2. Tyler Carbaugh led the team in shots with seven, followed by Marc Dinkel with six. Carbaugh had four shots on goal while Dinkel and Robby Lentine had three each. Cole Sinclair and Will Dooley split equal time in goal, but faced no shots on goal.
The Maroons return to action on Saturday, October 5th as they travel to Lexington to take on Washington and Lee. That contest is scheduled for a 2:30 PM start.
