Men's Soccer Drops Match to Virginia Wesleyan in Double Overtime
SALEM – The Roanoke College men's soccer team fell in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action to Virginia Wesleyan in double overtime, 2-1 on Saturday night.  The Maroons now sit with a record of 9-4-1; 5-2-1 in the ODAC, while the Marlins now have a record of 10-4-1; 6-2 in ODAC play.

Roanoke has won five of the last eight meetings against Virginia Wesleyan.  The last victory over the Marlins came in the 2012 ODAC Championship game, where the Maroons won the conference crown in a double overtime thriller.

Virginia Wesleyan hopped on the scoreboard first on Saturday night as Josh Kemp scored at the 17:14 mark, assisted by Josh McNamara.  Roanoke scored the equalizer at 69:17 when Orestis Ilias corralled a pass from Jackson Goyette and placed it in the back of the net for a 1-1 tie.

Neither team could score the game-winning goal, leading the contest in to an overtime period.  Even after the first 10 minutes, the teams remained locked at 1-1.  In the waning moments of the second overtime period, Virginia Wesleyan's Kemp scored off of a pass from Isaac Arrington, giving the Marlins the 2-1 victory over Roanoke.

The Maroons return to action on Wednesday, October 23rd as they travel to Greensboro, NC to face off against Guilford College. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
