Roanoke and Guilford Play ODAC Contest to 0-0 Push
GREENSBORO, NC – The Roanoke College men's soccer team battled the Guilford Quakers to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night in ODAC action.  The Maroons now have a record of 9-4-2; 5-2-2 in ODAC play, while the Quakers sit with a mark of 6-6-3; 3-4-2 ODAC.
 
Both teams held each other scoreless through the first period.  Roanoke got off the final shot of the first half, as Mark Strelow's shot was blocked with just 44 seconds to play in the period.  The Maroons continued to fire in the second half, as Brian White put two shots on goal in the first 10 minutes.  Guilford's goalkeeper made five saves in the second half, keeping the game scoreless through regulation. 
 
Guilford took two shots in the opening three minutes of the period, both sailing wide of the net.  Patrick Bain and Tyler Carbaugh each took a shot for the Maroons, with Bain's shot being on goal.  In the second OT period, Garrett Eldridge and Jackson Goyette each took one shot.  Guilford's Robert Sandidge fired one last attempt in the final 11 seconds, but Cole Sinclair was able to make the save and end the game in the 0-0 push.
 
While both teams finished with two shots in each of the overtime periods, Roanoke held a 16-10 shot advantage in regulation play.  The Maroons also tied Guilford in corner kicks with five apiece.  Roanoke had the lone corner kick in Overtime at the 107:44 mark as Jackson Goyette took the kick for the Maroons.
 
Tyler Carbaugh, Mark Strelow and Brian White each finished the contest with four shots.  Of the team's nine shots on goal, White tallied a team high three shots.  Cole Sinclair, who played all 110 minutes in net, accumulated six saves on the evening.
 
The Maroons return to action on Saturday, October 26th as they travel to Hampden-Sydney to play in the penultimate game of the regular season schedule.  That contest is set for a 7:00 PM start.
