The Lead: Junior Guy Cross scored a pair of goals to lead the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened:
- The Eagles opened the scoring at 31:42, as Christian Trout's free kick was headed by Riley Fisher to Cross, who finished to give the Eagles the lead. UMW held a 1-0 advantage at intermission.
- RC's Marshall Hodge, Brandon Bauer and Jackson Goyette each put shots on goal in the firs-half but the Eagles' Matt Spencer turned each away.
- In the second, Mary Washington received a penalty kick just two minutes into the half and converted to make the score 2-0. UMW tacked on another goal in the 59th minute when Robert Tata scored to make it 3-0.
- Cole Sinclair had eight saves for the Maroons.
