The Lead: Rob Lentine's golden goal 4:33 into overtime lifted the Roanoke College Men's Soccer team to a 3-2 ODAC road win Hampden-Sydney.
How it Happened
- Lentine got RC on the board in the 15th minute when he took a pass from Cole Thornton and beat H-SC keeper Cameron McFarlene to make it 1-0.
- Jackson Goyette doubled the RC advantage at the 53:19 mark with an unassisted strike, making it 2-0 Maroons.
- H-SC would rally getting goals from Hunter Weiland in the 68th minute and Josiah Fleming with just over six minutes to go in regulation to tie the match 2-2.
- Orestis Ilias had a chance to give RC the win in the 89th minute but his shot hit the post and stayed out of the goal, sending the game to overtime.
- Lentine took the only shot in the extra period and scored his third game-winning goal of the year.
- RC keeper Cole Sinclair made three saves for the Maroons as did McFarlene.
- Roanoke held an 11-7 edge in shots and 7-1 in corner kicks.
Roanoke will close out the regular season on Saturday when it travels to Washington and Lee for 1:00 p.m. match.
