The Lead: North Carolina Wesleyan used an early goal and held off Roanoke to score a 1-0 men's soccer victory.

How it Happened

  • The Battling Bishops came out firing, forcing Nick Tadros to make three saves in the first 3:50.
  • Tyler Jones got NCWC what proved to be the game-winner when he collected the rebound of Tadros' third save and scored to make it 1-0.
  • Roanoke would not allow another shot in the half and threatened to score but Alex Magner made two saves to preserve the lead for North Carolina Wesleyan going into the intermission.
  • RC attempted to come back in the second-half but Magner again made two saves and helped the defense survive six corner kick attempts from the Maroons.
  • The Maroons, who also played the final 22 minutes a man-down, held a 10-5 edge in corner kicks for the match.
  • RC outshot NCWC 11-10 for the match and Tadros finished with seven saves, including four in the second-half to keep the Maroons within in striking distance.
