The Lead: Roanoke stays unbeaten in ODAC play with 4-0 win over Eastern Mennonite Wednesday night.
How it Happened:
- Roanoke got on the board 3:32 into the match when Jackson Goyette took a corner kick and kept the ball on the ground that found the feet of Cole Thornton who then slipped a pass to Marc Hoppler who tapped the ball in to make it 1-0.
- RC doubled its advantage when following an Eastern Mennonite foul, Tim Hahabir served in a free kick to Adam Yesbeck who headed the ball past EMU keeper Matthew Overacker to make it 2-0 at the 28th minute.
- The Maroons had a chance to extend their lead with 10 minutes to go in the first-half but Overacker turned away a one-time volley by Jon-Cocy Mactutus with a sprawling save to keep it 2-0 RC.
- Roanoke got its third goal of the match in the 67th minute when Marshall Hodges' corner kick deflected off an EMU defender and into the back of the net.
- Atticus Cooke rounded out the scoring on the night with a goal in the 77th minute to make it 4-0.
- RC held a 22-8 edge in shots, including 17-1 in the first-half. The Maroon also led in corner kicks 8-2.
- Nick Tadros earned the shutout, making one second-half save, while Overacker made eight stops for EMU.
