The Lead: The Roanoke Men's Soccer team topped Bridgewater 3-2 in ODAC action on Saturday in a match that saw the teams combine for four goals in the final seven minutes of play.

How it Happened:

  • After a first-half that saw the teams muster a combined five shots, RC got on the board in the 68th minute when Tim Mahabir's free-kick from 20 yards out found the back of the net to put the Maroons up 1-0.
  • The score stayed that way until the 83rd minute when Aaron McElhenny leveled the match for Bridgewater.
  • Roanoke struck back just over a minute later when a Mahabir free-kick set up a Marc Hoppler for his team-leading fifth goal of the season which put RC up 2-1.
  • Roanoke widened its advantage less than two minutes when a own goal by BC made it 3-1 RC in the 86th minute.
  • Bridgewater would score in the 88th minute to cut it to 3-2 but that would be as close as it would get as Roanoke remains one of two unbeaten teams in ODAC play.
  • Roanoke finished the match with an 11-7 edge in shots and 5-3 in corner kicks.
  • Nick Tadros made one save for RC, while Mark Davis made five saves for BC, including four in the second-half.
