RC Secures Unbeaten ODAC Season With Tie Against No. 17 LC

The Lead: Roanoke capped an unbeaten regular season in ODAC play by tying Lynchburg 1-1 Saturday night in Salem.

How it Happened:

  • Lynchburg got on the board in the 23rd minute when a Thomas Salamone corner kick was headed into the back of the net by Fredy Flores to make it 1-0 Hornets.
  • Roanoke got the equalizer when Brandon Bauer sent a pass to Jose Robertson whose shot rang off the cross-bar and past the goal line to level the match.
  • RC had a chance to move in front in the 60th minute when following an LC foul outside the box, Tim Mahabir's free kick hit off the cross bar and out of play.
  • LC held a 10-9 edge in shots and 3-2 into corner kicks.
  • Nick Tadros made three saves in net for RC, while LC keeper Dylan McLaurin turned away four shots.
  • With a 5-0-4 record in the ODAC, RC secures its second unbeaten season for the second time in three years.
Up Next: Roanoke has earned the No. 3 seed in the 2016 ODAC Tournament and will host a quarterfinal match on Wednesday against an opponent to be determined.
