Rauf lifts Roanoke to ODAC Quarterfinal win over EMU

The Lead: Third-seeded Roanoke defeated sixth-seeded Eastern Mennonite 1-0 in the ODAC Quarterfinals Wednesday night in Salem, Va. 

How it Happened:

  • Eastern Mennonite fired off a shot by Parker Leap that hit the side of the post keeping to game 0-0 just 25 minutes into the contest.
  • Roanoke fired off a pair of shots in the two minutes of the second half, including a shot by Benji Pullen that bounced off the post keeping the game scoreless.
  • Sam Rauf scored what proved to be the game winner just forty seconds later off an assist from Adam Yesbeck off a corner kick from Tim Mahabir.
  • The RC defense only allowed two more shots in the remainer of the game, one of those was on a break away but the EMU shot went high over the cross-bard, securing the 1-0 conference quarterfinal win.
  • The Maroons held a 13-6 advantage in shots and a 4-2 lead in corner kicks while goalkeeper Nick Tadros made two saves on the night.
