Six Maroons Named All-ODAC in Men's Soccer; Hoppler Chosen as Rookie of the Year

FOREST, Va. – Six Roanoke Men's Soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2016 ODAC All-Conference Team including Marc Hoppler who was named the league's Rookie of the Year.

Fortune Sibanda and Sam Rauf were both named First-Team All-ODAC, Hoppler and Jackson Goyette were chosen for the second-team and Tim Mahabir and goalkeeper Nick Tadros were both third-team selections.

Hoppler, a freshman from Lucerne, Switzerland, proved as much a key member of the Maroons defense as their offense. On attack, Hoppler led Roanoke with five goals scored and 10 points with four of those goals coming against ODAC opponents. He opened the scorebook or notched the game-winning goal on four occasions, including the lone tally in a 1-0 win over Guilford late in the regular season.
Sibanda earns his second consecutive first-team nod and it's the third all-conference award for Rauf and the first time he has been named first-team. Sibanda played in 16 matches in the central midfield for the Maroons, recording one assist on the offensive end.
Rauf joined Hoppler, Mahabir and Tadros on an RC defense that surrendered just 19 overall goals and six in conference play, while also notching eight shutouts. Mahabir also added two goals and five assists for nine points on offense. Tadros' 0.94 goals against average was second best in the league and he made 56 saves.
Goyette finished the year with three goals and one assist for seven points. His three goals was tied for second on the team. He also had one game-winning goal.
