Sibanda Named to NSCAA / NCAA All-Region Team

SALEM, Va. – Roanoke College junior midfielder Fortune Sibanda has been named to the 2016 NSCAA / NCAA Division III Men's All-South Atlantic Region Team as the organizations recently announced its yearly awards.

Sibanda is coming off a junior season in which he earned his second consecutive First-Team All-ODAC honor. Despite a late season injury which ultimately cut his year short, Sibanda played in 16 matches in the central midfield for the Maroons, recording one assist on the offensive end.

"Whenever a player of Fortune's quality has their season cut short by injury, you are always disappointed for that player and their teammates, so it is nice to see him recognized with NSCAA All- Region honors for the work he put in throughout the season, said RC Head Coach Ryan Pflugrad.  "His impact on the game is immense.  It includes everything from executing a dynamic ability with the ball at his feet to  ball winning and doing the dirty work defensively that is required for the team to get results.  As a program, we are proud of him in being recognized by the coaches of the NSCAA."

Sibanda and the Maroons finished the season 9-5-5 overall, going unbeaten in the ODAC for the second time in the last three years and giving the program its 17th consecutive winning season.
