Men's Soccer to Host Cancer Awareness Game For Cadin's Cure - Oct. 24

Cadins Cure 2018

Salem, Va. – Roanoke Men's Soccer will be hosting a Cancer Awareness game on Wednesday, October 24 against Bridgewater at 7 p.m in Salem.

The Maroons will be playing for Cadin's Cure, a cause that holds close to the Roanoke Men's Soccer Program as Team Impact player, Cadin Byrd is a member of the squad. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in the Spring of 2017.

Roanoke will be wearing jerseys with lavender numbers to increase awareness of all cancers as well as Hodgkin's Lymphoma which is represented by a violet ribbon.

Cadin officially signed with Roanoke Men's Soccer on September 22, 2017, through Team IMPACT which is a program that improves the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illness through the power of team. You may have seen him on the sidelines or meeting with the officials for the coin toss as he is an active member with the team.

Prior to Wednesday's game, the entire Men's Soccer Team, as well as the entire Roanoke Athletics community, will recognize Cadin for all the contributions he has made throughout the past two years and celebrate that he is CANCER FREE!

Roanoke is teaming up with the Byrd Family to increase awareness not only for cancer but for Cadin's Cure, a federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on injecting hope into the lives of children diagnosed with cancer.

The jerseys worn will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to Cadin's Cure and Roanoke will also have a table where you can make donations.

We will also have a table where fans can write the name of someone they know who has been affected by cancer on a banner. If you can't make it to the game you can tweet at us, @RCMaroons, using the #CadinsCure to have a name of a loved one added.
