The Lead: The Maroons faced off with St. Mary's of Maryland at Salisbury on Sunday afternoon. After defeating the Seagulls, 2-1, Roanoke looked to complete the weekend sweep with a win over the Seahawks. Neither team was able to get a shot on goal in a scoreless first half. In the 72nd minute, St. Mary's broke through with the lone score of the afternoon as the Maroons fell, 1-0.
Highlights:
- Roanoke would out-shoot the Seahawks, 3-2, in the first half but neither team got a shot to goal.
- With just over 17 minutes left to play, St. Mary's would see an assisted goal break the scoreless tie.
- The Maroons were outshot, 8-7, despite having a significant edge in time of possession, 61% to 31% for the match.
- In goal, Zach Behe registered a pair of saves. In the second half Jake Berecz and Nathan Carey each had shots on goal but were turned away by the Seahawk keeper.
