RC has six All ODAC members

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their 2021 men's soccer All Conference teams on Wednesday afternoon. The Maroons would see six familiar faces on the three teams as every Maroon was a repeat All ODAC performer from past seasons. Joe Carman was joined on the 1st team by Dylan Berk while Zach Behe, Liam Camilleri, Chris Jerrildand Alec Taitague were named to the 2nd team.

Berk, a 2019 and 2020 2nd team selection, moved up to the 1st team after a stellar season in the midfield. Berk scored a pair of goals and handed out seven assists, tied for 3rd best in the ODAC. The junior had one game winning goal while being one of five Maroons to play and start in all 18 games.

Carman returns to the 1st team after being an All ODAC and VaSID All Sate 1st team selection last year. Carman, the reigning VaSID Defensive Player of the Year, anchored a Roanoke defense that led the conference by giving up just 10 goals and an ODAC best .52 goals per game. The senior added one goal and one assist on the offensive end of the field.

Behe returns to the All ODAC 2nd team after earning the same honor after the 2019 season. The senior goal keeper started all 18 matches and was responsible for eight shutouts while combing for a ninth. Behe recorded 57 saves while posting the 2nd best goals against average (.53) in the ODAC.

Camilleri paced the Roanoke offense with a team high seven goals, tied for 8th in the conference. The forward makes his third appearance on the all conference teams after making the 3rd team in 2019 and the 2nd team after the abbreviated 2020 season. The senior added an assist and accounted for a trio of game winning goals.

Jerrild is yet another repeat member of the All ODAC 2nd team. A 3rd team member in 2019, the defender moved to the 2nd team last season. Jerrild had one goal but was a stalwart in the middle and back end of the Roanoke defense, playing in and starting all 18 matches in 2021.

Taitague was once again honored as one of the ODAC's best with his third all conference selection and second straight on the 2nd team. Taitague played and started 13 of the Maroon's 18 games due in part to his trip to Bahrain to compete on the Guam Senior Men's National Team for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup play-offs.
