Zach Behe named Academic All American

The College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) announced their 2021 Academic All American teams for soccer on Wednesday afternoon. Roanoke College goalkeeper Zach Behe was named Academic All American 1st Team.

Last month, Behe was named Academic All District by CoSida and earned a spot on the ballot for All American honors. The senior from High Point (N.C.) had another tremendous season in goal for the Maroons. Behe was named All Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) 2nd team after earning the same honor after the 2019 season. The senior goal keeper started all 18 matches and was responsible for eight shutouts while combing for a ninth. Behe recorded 57 saves while posting the 2nd best goals against average (.53) in the ODAC.

In the classroom, Behe carries a 3.96 grade point average (GPA) in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Accounting. A member of Delta Mu Delta, a business honor society, and Alpha Chi. Zach is also a member of the AICPA, a national professional accounting organization and has been a subject tutor for the college since the fall of 2020 while receiving the Larry W. Lynch Scholarship in Finance last spring. Behe is currently the President of the Student Athlete advisory Committee (SAAC) at Roanoke as well as the associate representative of the ODAC to the NCAA. 

The 35-member men's Academic All American team has an average GPA of 3.87 with the first team posting a 3.89.
