Maroons Picked Third in ODAC Preseason Men's Soccer Poll

SALEM, Va. – As the Roanoke College men's soccer team wraps up practices before their first game on Sept. 3, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) has announced the 2022 ODAC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll with the Maroons picked third out of the 13 league teams.

Washington and Lee, who advanced to the final four of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, is picked to win the ODAC, securing 143 points and 11 first-place votes. Defending ODAC Champion Lynchburg collected the final two first-place votes along with 133 points to be picked second. The Maroons were close behind with their 120 points in the poll. Randolph-Macon (4th - 110 points) and Virginia Wesleyan (5th - 89 points) wrapped up the top five.

Hampden-Sydney (6th – 88 points), Randolph (7th – 86 points), ODAC newcomer Averett (8th – 62 points), Bridgewater (9th – 55 points), and Shenandoah (10th – 53 points) finish the top 10. Guilford, Ferrum, and Eastern Mennonite sit 11th through 13th in the preseason poll.

Roanoke College and the ODAC are serving as the hosts of the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's National Semifinals and Championship at Kerr Stadium Dec. 1-4.

Stockton visits the Maroons to open the season on Sept. 3 before RC takes on Texas Lutheran on Sept. 5. Both games are part of an opening weekend set of games that also sees Ithaca visit campus.

The Maroons will then travel for their next three games, including a neutral site game against Catholic (Sept. 8) in Leesburg, Va. RC visits both Methodist (Sept. 11) and Greensboro (Sept. 14) before returning home to take on Mary Washington on Sept. 17.

Kicking off ODAC play, the Maroons visit Randolph on Sept. 21 before a two-match ODAC homestand against VWU (Sept. 24) and WLU (Sept. 28) to finish out September. October sees RC visit SU on October 1 and H-SC on Oct. 5. Home games against both R-MC (Oct. 8) and FC (Oct. 11) take place before a weekend game at Lynchburg on Oct. 15.

The final home game of the season is on Oct. 19 when the Maroons host AU in a mid-week game before traveling to Atlanta to take on Emory on Oct. 22. The regular season ends with a game at EMU on Oct. 26.

The 2022 ODAC Tournament gets underway on Oct. 29 with the quarterfinal round with the semifinals (11/2) and championship game (11/5) at the highest seed remaining in each contest.
