The Short Story: The Roanoke College men's soccer team remained unbeaten on the young season with a 0-0 tie against Texas Lutheran on Monday afternoon. The game was the final one of the 2022 VBR Sports Roanoke College Men's Soccer Invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams played a strong defensive game in the first half.
- The Bulldogs looked to take the lead with 27 seconds left in the opening period when a long pass to Luis Green bounced off the left post.
- TLU earlier scored what appeared to be a goal, but the lines official called the Bulldogs offside and waved the goal off.
- A new rule in college soccer is a game can end in a tie after 90 minutes of play. Only when it comes to the postseason will games continue into overtime.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Five different Roanoke players fired a shot with Till Pfleging, Till Schumacher, Girom Affolter, Nathan Carey, and Alec Taitague all taking one each.
- Zach Behe (1-0-1) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Maroons, making three saves.
- Roanoke took more corner kicks than the Bulldogs (4-1), while each team made three saves in goal.
