
SALEM, Va. – After reaching the 2022 ODAC Championship game, the Roanoke College men's soccer team was honored with two of the top awards and four players earning All-ODAC selections.
Dylan Berk and Chris Jerrild were both named First Team All-ODAC at midfield and defense, respectively with Harrison Kraus earning Second Team All-ODAC honor and Zach Behe earning Third Team All-ODAC honors as well. In addition to the team selections, Krause was named the 2022 ODAC Rookie of the Year after a stellar first season on the pitch. Behe not only performed well on the field, but also in the classroom, earning the 2022 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award.
Berk, playing a mostly defensive role in the midfield, constantly pressured his opponents into costly turnovers throughout the season. He started every game for the Maroons this year scoring one goal and two assists. Against Randolph-Macon on Oct. 8, he scored the game-winning goal and assisted on another in the 3-0 shutout over the Yellow Jackets. He finished his career starting 64 of the 64 games he played in, scoring nine goals, 13 assists and going 2-2 on penalty kicks. Three of his goals were game-winners. He was also named First Team All-ODAC in 2021 and Second Team All-ODAC during the spring 2021 and 2019 seasons.
Jerrild, a true defender, started all 18 games he played in this season and 66 of the 80 for his career. While not having offensive stats on his ledger, he helped lead the defense that had seven shutouts this season. In his career he has scored three goals and assisted on four others. In the Spring 2021, he scored the game-winning goal against Washington and Lee in a 1-0 shutout. He earned Second Team All-ODAC honors during both the 2021 and Spring 2021 seasons along with Third Team honors in 2019.
Playing on the field for the first time this fall, Kraus made his presence known very quickly. In his first season, he finished the season with nine goals, including two-game winners, and two assists. His two game-winners game against Averett on Oct. 19 and Hampden-Sydney on Nov. 2 in the ODAC Semifinals. In the win over the Cougars, Kraus scored his first career hat trick with all three goals in the first half, including the first two scored just 17 second apart. Since the ODAC started recognizing a Rookie of the Year in 1998, a Roanoke player has won the won the award previously six times. Kraus becomes the seventh Maroon to win and the first since Marc Hoppler in 2016.
Behe started every game for the Maroons this year, only coming out in the 6-1 win over Ferrum on Oct. 11 with 23:34 left in the game. Over the course of the season he has made a career-high 62 saves along with seven shutouts. He finishes his career playing in 6,701:07 minutes, making 238 saves and 24 total shutouts. He was also a Second Team All-ODAC selection in 2019 and 2021. In the classroom, Behe has maintained a 3.966 GPA in Business Administration for his first three years. Last year he was First Team Academic All-America by CoSIDA (Now College Sport Communicators) as well as Academic All-District, Academic All-State by VaSID, and to the ODAC All-Academic Team.
