The Lead: Roanoke won 19 of the 22 events on the day as the Maroons hosted Ferrum, Hollins and Randolph Saturday evening at the Salem YMCA.
Women's Highlights
- Reilly Bird, Sarah Virginia Scott, Hannah Sells and Francisca Cifuentes kicked off the meet with a first-place time of 4:21.32 in the 400-yard medley relay.
- Sells took first in the 1000 yard freestyle, clocking a 12:16.61. Cifuentes followed suit in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:10.45, earning first.
- Bird finished atop the 50-yard freestyle leaderboard with a 25.42. She also took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.38.
- Scott took first in the 200 yard IM after touching the wall at the 2:26.69 mark. She also won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:13.18.
- Margaret Riggan earned her top finish of the day in the 100-yard backstroke with a 1:08.69 while Phoebe Coburn earned hers in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:05.93.
- Sells, Riggan, Cifuentes and Coburn closed the day by winning the 800-yard freestyle relay in 9:02.64.
Men's Highlights
- David Adarkwah, Nick McGrath, Ethan Gordon and Jorge Jara kicked off the men's competition with a time of 3:57.84 in the 400-yard medley relay.
- Logan Cale clocked an 11:49.25 in the 1000 yard freestyle to take first.
- McGrath (22.68) and Adarkwah (23.29) took the top spots in the 50-yard freestyle. McGrath also won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.72
- Gordon finished the 200 yard IM in 2:12.60 and the 100-yard butterfly in 58.93 for back-to-back first-place finishes.
- Tanner DeBord clocked a 52.34 in the 100-yard freestyle, followed by Adarkwah (53.16) in second.
- Jacob David touched the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:18.95.
- Jara, DeBord, David and Cale closed out the meet with a first-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 8:12.02.
