RC sweeps ODAC Swimmers of the Week

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their weekly swim awards on Monday afternoon. Roanoke College swept both the men's and women's honors making it a total of five weekly conference awards for RC to start the season. Logan Deal was named ODAC Men's Swimmer of the Week while Lily Mullens earned ODAC Women's Swimmer of the week.

Roanoke competed in the Guilford College Invite on Saturday with the men winning the six-team meet while the women finished 2nd of eight teams.

Deal was a member of two winning relay teams while picking up a pair of individual runner-up finishes. In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Deal and his teammates would finish first with a final time of 1:26.05. The freshman returned in the second relay, 200 Medley, to once again finish ahead of the field, 1:34.06. In the 100 Breastsroke, Logan finished runner-up in 57.39 while also finishing second in the 200 Individual Medley (IM), 1:57.56. Both times are the tops in the ODAC this season at those events.

Mullens and her teammates earned a pair of runner-up finishes in both the 200 Freestyle (1:39.53) and the 200 Medley (1:52.44) relays. In the 100 Backstroke, the freshman was the only swimmer in the field of 63 that broke the one-minute mark when she out-touched everyone in 59.18. It was not only the fastest time in the conference this season, it is the only effort to best the one-minute mark to date. In the 50 Freestyle, Mullens was 3rd at 24.94, the 2nd fastest time in the conference this season.

Deal and Mullens join fellow swimmers Xavier Williams, Ben Tateand Susanna Price in being named ODAC Swimmers of the Week during the 2021-22 season that is less than a month old.
