The Short Story: The Roanoke College men's swim team downed the Bobcats of Lees-McRae in the its home-opener on Saturday afternoon at the Salem YMCA, 145-114, to begin the year 2-0 in dual meets.
TOP FINISHES
- In the first event of the day, the team of Mack Calvert, Logan Deal, Jason Brooks, and Xavier Williams won the 200 Yard Medley Relay in a time of 1:38.12.
- Josh Rauch won the 1000 Yard Free in a time of 10:00.76, beating out the second-place finisher by nearly 18 seconds.
- In the third men's event, Ethan Brewer won the 200 Yard Free in a time of 1:46.95.
- Deal would win the fifth men's event, the 100 Yard Breaststroke in a time of 1:00.40
- Williams claimed the top spot in the 50 Yard Free in a time of 21.85. He followed that up with a win in the 100 Yard Free in a time of 48.91
- Jacob Cole finished second for the Maroons in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:05.72
- Deal won his third event of the day with a first-place finish in the 200 Yard Breaststroke in 2:18.79
- Rauch and Brewer went 1-2 in the 500 Yard Free in times of 4:52.21 and 4:53.06, respectively.
- In the 100 Yard Fly, Brooks finished second for the Maroons with a time of 53.06
- Austin Nielsen came in second in the 200 Yard IM in a time of 2:05.59.
- The team of Calvert, Brooks, Deal, and Williams finished second in the final event of the day, the 400 Yard Free Relay in a time of 3:17.32.
