Men's Tennis Drops Regular Season Finale, Clinch #5 Seed in ODAC Tournament
BRIDGEWATER, Va. --- Roanoke fell to Bridgewater in its regular season finale, 7-2 on Monday afternoon. The Maroons finish the regular season at 7-8, with a 5-4 mark in conference play. The Eagles' record now stands at 12-5 and finished ODAC play with a 7-2 record.
Jon Roy (Greensboro, NC, Grimsley)went the distance with Chris Radke after falling in the first set, but outlasted him in the final two (6-3, 13-11) to earn the win in #1 singles. He finished the season 8-4 in singles matches heading into tournament play.
Sam Sherrill (Southborough, MA, St. Mark's), who is battling a knee injury suffered last week, fell in #2 singles, but rebounded in #1 doubles with Roy as they came out on top, 8-6. The duo finished 10-2 overall and 6-0 in ODAC play this season.
With the victory, Bridgewater holds down the third seed outright in the ODAC Tournament, but a three-way tie for fourth required conference tie-breakers to set the next three seeds. Emory & Henry (15-5, 5-4) is the fourth seed and will open tournament play against fifth seeded Roanoke . Guilford sits sixth (6-6, 5-4) while Lynchburg (4-9, 3-6) and Virginia Wesleyan (4-12, 2-7) round out the eight-team field, respectively.

Tournament play begins Friday, April 23, with each of the four quarterfinals scheduled at Washington and Lee's outdoor courts. The semifinals will be played on Saturday morning while the championship is set for Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
