Men's Tennis defeats Randolph-Macon, 8-1
ASHLAND, Va. --- Roanoke College men's tennis defeated Randolph-Macon, 8-1 in ODAC action Saturday afternoon. The Maroons now stand at 5-5, 5-1 in the ODAC.
The Maroons have won five of its last seven games after starting the season, 0-3. The men fell only in #2 singles as Sam Sherrill lost in a tight one, 6-4, 6-4 as they cruised to their fifth conference win of the season. They remain second in the ODAC standings.
Jon Roy won his third match in the last four outings, 6-1, 6-0 to improve his #1 singles record to 4-4. Roy and Sherrill won 8-3 in #1 doubles as the combo are now 5-3 on the season.
Sam Jordan improved his #3 singles record to 2-1 with his 6-1, 6-2 win over the Yellow Jackets. He and Pete DeWitt defeated R-MC, 8-5 in #2 doubles for their first win together of the season. Jordan has now won four of the last five doubles matches this spring.
As for DeWitt, he cruised through his #4 singles match, 6-0, 6-1. He has won his last four singles matches. Alex Lyons won his third-straight singles (#5 6-1, 6-1) and doubles (#3 8-3) match this year. He is now 2-0 in the #5 singles slot this season.
The men will travel to Farmville, Va. to take on Hampden-Sydney this Wednesday, April 8 at 3:30 p.m. in ODAC action.
