Men's Tennis Competes at ODAC Singles Championships

Lexington, Va. --- The Roanoke College men's tennis team competed in the ODAC singles championships last weekend in Lexington, Va. on the campus of Washington & Lee.
Jon Roy advanced to the semifinals in Flight A of the ODAC Singles Championships last weekend. He defeated Brain Remsch from Lynchburg in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3 in the opening round. He then defeated Jamie CCardell from Washington & Lee in the quarterfinals, 6-4 and 5-7 before McCardell retired. He fell in the semis to Hampden-Sydney's Kevin Calhoun, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2.
Hart Callahan fought hard but fell to Morgan Hopson, 6-7, 5-7 in the opening round. He bounced back to win all three consolation matches easily in straight sets.
In flight B, Alex Lyons defeated Will Garrison of Emory & Henry, 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals. This will conclude the men's fall season.
The Maroons finished 13-8 overall and 6-2 in the ODAC during the regular season. They fell to Hampden-Sydney in the ODAC Semifinals on Saturday which ended their season. They were ranked in the Atlantic Region during most of the season and won 10 or more matches for the fifth-straight season.
