SALEM, Va. -- The Men's Tennis opened the spring season with loss to Averett 6-3. The Cougars improve their record to 1-0 while the Maroons stand at 0-1.

In singles competition, senoir Jon Roy (Greensboro, NC, Grimsley) defeated David Lembke 6-3, 6-4 to earn his first win of the 2011 season. In doubles competition, he and teammate James Lee (Radnor, PA, Radnor) defeated David Lembke and Andrey Yasyr, 8-2.

Also in singles, sophmore Lee knocks off Xavier Ruiz, 6-1, 0-6, 10-4, for his first win of the season. Freshman Chris Migliarese (Roanoke, VA, Hidden Valley) first collegiate victory fell short against Iliya Egorov, 6-3, 6-3 in straight sets.

The Men's next game is on 3/17 as they travel to Emory & Henry and start time is scheduled for 4 PM.
