The Lead: The Roanoke College men's and women's tennis teams stepped out of conference on Friday with a trip to Charlotte (N.C.) for matches with Johnson & Wales. The Maroons overwhelmed the Wildcats picking up a pair of 9-0 wins.

Women's Highlights:

  • Halle Fernstrum and Lucy Collins picked up win at #1 doubles, 8-1. At the #2 spot, Margriet Bostoen and Julia Bassett didn't lose a game on their way to an 8-0 win.
  • In singles play, Collins was a 6-0 and 6-0 winner at the top spot while Fernstrum added another point with a 6-1 and 6-4 win over Miranda Montes.
  • Bassett (#3) and Sophie Bartholomaus (#4) went unblemished with 6-0 and 6-0 wins.
  • The Maroons were awarded wins at #3 doubles as well as #5 and #6 singles with forfeits.

Men's Highlights:

  • The duo of Hardt Lesko and Carter Hylton were 8-1 winners at the top spot while the tandem of Thomas Hodges and Hunter Adams earned an 8-1 win at #2 doubles.
  • Dalton Capobianco was a 6-1 and 6-3 winner at #1 singles with Lesko finishing off Jonathan Millwood 6-1 and 6-2 at the #2 position.
  • Hodges (#3), Hylton (#4), and Lance Beheler (#5) all picked up 6-0 and 6-0 wins for the Maroons.
  • The Wildcats would forfeit #2 doubles and #6 singles.

What's Next: The women travel to Virginia Beach to face the Marlins on Saturday while the men will nest be in action when they travel to Washington and Lee on April 18th.
