The Lead: Kevin Waterman led a group of 17 Maroons this weekend at the 2017 Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.

Highlights:

  • Waterman set a personal-indoor-best in the 800m with a time of 1:59.88 which was good for a ninth-place finish which was the best among DIII runners in a field made up of mostly Division I athletes.
  • David Flowers placed ninth in the weight throw with a mark of 13.06m, while Kyle Bland's 11.79m was a season best for him.
  • Andrew Tate set a season and personal best in the 500m with a time of 1:19.47.
  • John Shrader also tied his season best performance with a mark of 1.79m – 5'10.5" in the high jump and Dillion Kopec's mark of 3.80m in the pole vault was a season best.
  • On the women's side, Lindsey Baxter set a personal indoor best in both the pole vault with a mark of 2.75m and the 800m with a time of 2:30.75.

Up Next: Roanoke will be back in action Feb. 4 when it heads to Christopher Newport for the Vince Brown Invitational.
