The Lead: Roanoke hosted the annual Bast-Cregger Indoor Track Meet over the weekend. A trio of Maroons won individual events as RC got the indoor season off to a strong start.

Women's Highlights:

  • Friday night would see Roanoke's first individual win. Lindsey Barton posted a final height of 10'11.75" to finish first in the Pole Vault. Chloe Van Duyne finished third with Claire Trotto claiming fifth place.
  • Alison Moreau registered a pair of top three efforts. Moreau won the 200M with a final time of 26.93 and claimed a third place finish with a final jump of 5'1" in the High Jump.
  • Senior Claire Aurand was the only runner to break the eight second mark when she posted a 7.98 in the prelims of the 60M. In the finals, Aurand finished fourth in the event with a time of 8.10.
  • In the 800M Hailey Draper earned a runner-up finish with a time of 2:31.17.
  • In the throwing events, RC earned another runner-up spot when Jayna Jean-Jules went 44'9" in the Weighted Throw.
  • In the 4x400 Relay the Maroon quartet of Saja Alexander, Emily Ball, Allison Barthol, and Lauren Henson come home fourth, 4:18.98, just one second out of a top three finish.

Men's Highlights:

  • Xavier O'Brien won the 60M Hurdles in 8.61, besting his prelim time of 8.75 by .14 of a second.
  • In the 600M, Sam Crawford went 1:26.78 in his runner-up effort. Crawford finished just one spot ahead of teammate Micah Ray as RC would place a pair in the top three.
  • The Weighted Throw would see Kyle Bland finish third with a toss of 43'11.75".
  • On the opening night, Jackson Smith got the men off to a quality start with a fourth place effort in the Pole Vault, 12'1.50".
  • RC just missed another top five in the Heptathlon, when Miles Enstrom scored 3457 points, sixth overall.
  • RC would place a pair of team's in the top five of the 4x400 Relay. Aaron Rogers, Cameron Harris, Brandon Justice, and Blake Morin finished third, 3:35.31, less than a second behind the winning time of 3:35.14. In fifth place was a second RC team: Troy Crawley, Grant Williams, Greyson Cornett, and Ray.

Up next: RC will open up the new year with a trip to Winchester to run in the Wilkins Invitational hosted by Shenandoah University on January 12th.
