Maroons Picked to Finish Eighth in CVC Preseason Poll

SALEM, Va. – With the start of 2023 comes the first season of the Roanoke men's volleyball program. Today, the Continental Volleyball Conference announced the preseason coaches' poll with the Maroons being picked to finish eighth in the nine-team conference.

"We are so excited to begin our first season of competition here," said head coach Matt Reinsel. "It's a privilege to participate in such a historic and competitive conference for Div. III men's volleyball."

Juniata was picked to win the conference with 58 points and three first-place votes followed by Southern Virginia with 56 points and two first first-place votes. Rutgers-Newark claimed the final four first place votes along with 53 points to be selected third. Randolph-Macon (41), Marymount (40), Kean (31), and Elizabethtown (19) were picked fourth through seventh respectively. Roanoke picked up 16 points in the poll, six points ahead of ninth place Eastern Mennonite.

"Looking at the other programs in our conference, I think there is potential for multiple teams in the CVC to be voted into or receive votes in the national poll," add Reinsel. "It will definitely be a year full of tough matches and learning moments for our young squad, but we are taking that as an opportunity to grow."

Reinsel will boast a young team that consists mostly of freshmen including middle blocker Pierce Faulcon and outside hitter Jackson Rutkowski. One of the more experience players however will be junior transfer David Adkins, an opposite.
