Event: Eagle XC Challenge hosted by Bridgewater
Location: Bridgewater, Va.
The Lead: The Roanoke College cross country teams traveled to Bridgewater to compete for the first time since the fall of 2019. Both events would be contested at the distance of 4K. The RC women finished 3rd with a score of 67 points while the men earned a runner-up finish with 46 points. Junior Peter Smith won the men's event, claiming his first collegiate meet victory.
Women's Highlights:
- Zoe Dunlap finished 11th in the 57-runner field in a time of 16:38.1.
- Lauren Brown would finish in 16th place, seven spots ahead of her sister Ashley Brown.
- Rounding out the top five for the Maroons were Hannah Koepfinger and Madeline Bergeron.
Men's Highlights:
- Peter Smith crossed the finish line in a race winning time of 12:54.2. Smith bested 45 other runners to win the event.
- Finishing 3rd overall at 13:23.3 was Cooper Neeble, giving the Maroons two of the top three times for the evening.
- Freshman Franklin Reid finished 14th overall with a final time of 13:57.6.
- A trio of Maroons crossed the line in succession when Tim Hoffstatter, RJ Birdsall, and Cameron Ballinger all finished within 10 seconds of each other to give Roanoke five of the top 20 runners.
