The Short Story: The Roanoke College men's cross country team finished runner-up at the 2022 Roanoke XC Invitational and was the top Div. III finisher. Several runners set new PR records in the race that took place at Green Hill Park in Salem.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- There were 146 runners who took to the starting line with all five point-scorers for the Maroons finishing in the top 50.
- Chamberlain Zulauf was the top finisher for Roanoke finishing 8th in 25:45.4, setting a new personal record.
- Cooper Neeble also finished in under 26 minutes with a time of 25:55.3, taking over 30 seconds off his previous personal best of 26:28.7, set last year in Louisville, Ky.
- Matt Garis crossed the finish line in 27:16.5, taking off over 40 seconds off his personal best, set just one week ago in Charlotte.
- Peter Smith finished 29th overall in 27:22.9.
- Josh Fretwell was the final point-scorer for the Maroons, finishing 35th in a time of 27:40.6
- Other Maroons setting new PRs include Levi Counts, RJ Birdsall, Cameron Ballinger, Josh Woodley, Jake Greenstein, Michael McShane, Daniel Zearfoss, and Daniel Jewell.

- Roanoke has two weeks to prepare for the 2022 ODAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 29. The meet takes place at the Kernstown Battlefield Park in Winchester with Shenandoah hosting. The race gets underway at 11 a.m.
