The Lead: Most Outstanding Player Cary Beahm scored 20 points, including the 1,000th of her career to lead Roanoke 80-63 win over Salem in the final day of the Jean Beamer Tip-Off Classic on Saturday.

How it Happened

  • Beahm was joined on the all-tournament team by Bridget Holleran who had 17 points, seven rebounds and a game-high eight assists in the victory. Allison Livengood came off the bench for RC and scored 10 and had a game-high 11 rebounds for the Maroons.
  • RC shot 45% for the field, making 36-of-80 shots on the day and held a 54-48 edge on the glass. Salem shot 29.9%, connecting on 23-of-77 shots.
  • Roanoke broke away from an 18-18 tie at the start of the second with a 13-0 run started by a Holleran jump shot.
  • RC outscored SC 25-8 in the second quarter headed by Holleran with 11 points.
  • The Maroons held the Spirits scoreless for three minutes in the final period taking a 70-48 lead off a jumper from Livengood.
